Zusammenfassung

Internationalization is seen as a major growth strategy by the chain stores. In particular, one of the most active in this type of process in Spain is the apparel retail. However, not all firms in this industry have expanded internationally with the same intensity. This chapter presents a review of the literature regarding the main determinants and outcomes of the internationalization of retailing, analyzing the relationship between these variables and the intensity of the internationalization process of major Spanish companies in this industry.
