Envellir vivint a casa amb poca salut, soledat i depressió. Quina realitat viuen les dones grans?

Envejecer en casa es un objetivo deseado por la mayor parte de las personas. La clave para envejecer en casa es mantener el equilibrio entre las capacidades y pérdidas que tienen las personas y el entorno en el que viven. Participantes: 790 mujeres que viven en casa (media: 83 años). El objetivo era conocer la relación entre variables de salud en personas que viven en casa: salud percibida, bienestar psicológico, depresión, estado funcional y cognitivo, estilo de vida (ejercicio físico, salir de casa), número de caídas, apoyo social y soledad. Se observaron puntuaciones moderadas de soledad y salud funcional. Así pues, un 35,7% había tenido alguna caída en el último año, con alteraciones en la vida cotidiana tras la caída (62,11%). Sólo el 40% salía de casa con frecuencia; el 56% no realizaba ejercicio diario, y el 82,3% había recibido cuidados en los últimos doce meses. Se observaron relaciones significativas y negativas entre depresión y bienestar; apoyo social, estado funcional y cognitivo y salud percibida; y una relación positiva y significativa entre depresión y soledad. Entender los determinantes de la calidad de vida de las personas que viven en casa es importante debido al creciente número de personas mayores y las preferencias por envejecer en casa.
