Abstract

The aim of this study was to analyse the psychometric properties of different instruments that assess interpersonal styles and motivational climates as perceived by adolescent athletes and coaches in Argentina. A total of 669 adolescent athletes (M=14.83, SD=1.32) of both genders (56.65 % males; 43.35 % females) and 316 coaches (M=34.17, SD=9.64) of both genders (69.9 % males; 30.1 % females) participated in the study. For each scale, content validity, structural validity (through confirmatory factor analysis), internal consistency, and evidence of validity through correlations with sport engagement and burnout were established. The validation of these scales provides tools to assess social contexts and to carry out interventions that have a positive impact on the development of adolescent athletes in Argentina.
