Abstract

This study analyzes consumers’ booking intentions in shared accommodation (i.e., Airbnb) after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in two countries, Spain and the US. The COVID-19 pandemic with government-enforced travel restrictions, widespread economic shutdowns, and global fear of a life-threatening virus, calls for further research into the effect of this global threat on P2P accommodation. This article analyzes the consumers’ perceived importance of Airbnb attributes during the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, this study analyzes the factors influencing consumers’ booking intention based on the Theory of Reasoned Action, extended by the previous experience and attitudes toward health and sanitation in Airbnb.
