Abstract
This work sets out the topic of the teaching translation as a didactic tool for the teach- ing/learning process of Latin in non-compulsory secondary school. Having described the use of this educational tool throughout the centuries and having analyzed its in- fluence on current methodologies, we outline the advantages and disadvantages to its use, reformulate the targets which are pursued by this praxis and offer some alterna- tives in order to increase the results in the classroom.
