Efectos de un programa integral de ejercicio físico sobre la condición física, la autoestima y el grado de diversión en adultos mayores

Resumen
Objetivo: con la intención de optimizar el diseño de futuros programas de actividad física para mayores e incrementar así su compromiso con la práctica, el presente estudio plantea conocer el efecto de un programa de actividad física integral sobre la condición física (CF), la autoestima (AE) y la diversión con la actividad de los adultos mayores participantes. Método: 26 Adultos Mayores de 65 años formaron el Grupo Experimental (GE) y 24 el Grupo Control. El GE realizó el programa durante 8 meses. Para la medición de las variables se utilizó el Senior Fitness Test (Rikli y Jones, 1999), el Test de Autoestima (Rosenberg, 1965) y el cuestionario de Diversión con la Práctica Deportiva (Duda y Nicholls , 1992). La estadística se ha realizado mediante los análisis MANOVA para la CF, ANOVA para la AE y el Alfa de Cronbach para la diversión con la actividad. Resultados: el GE obtiene una mejora significativa de todas las variables de CF, una mejora no estadísticamente significativa en la AE, y una aceptación muy positiva de la actividad. Conclusiones: el cumplimiento de un programa de actividad física conlleva un incremento de la condición física y una alta satisfacción con la actividad, aunque no repercute con la misma incidencia sobre la autoestima de los participantes.
