Abstract

A systematic review of the literature has been conducted as approach to a new concept to understand the aging process, within the tendencies of positive aging, called harmonious aging (Liang and Luo, 2012). We cited the concept of successful aging by Rowe and Kahn (1997) and criticism of this model made by Liang and Luo (2012) and Leslie and Waid (2003). We have analyzed the scientific production of the last 1O years on harmonic aging and other concepts related to good aging: successful, healthy, active, productive and optimal aging. These are searched: hope, spirituality, religion, religi- osity, social support/social network, satisfaction with life, retirement satis- faction, cognitive functioning, entrepreneurship, quality of life, generativity, perceived health and transcendence.
