Resumen

The present paper provides an overview of the state of the art of the interventions on work related bullying. First, a taxonomy to classify the different interventions is presented and used to briefly revise different interventions carried out in communities and organizations. Second several conditions and factors for success are identified from the interventions. Third, the need of rigorous evaluation of the interventions has been emphasized, pointing out the usefulness of the theory and tools of program evaluation for this purpose. Fourth, the analysis of three ways to improving the interventions on bullying at work are considered. The issues taken into consideration are: a) to ground those interventions on theory and research, benefiting from them; b) to get advantage from a more thorough consideration of research on organizational change and development, and c) to enhance stakeholders participation as a way of coping with political components of these type of interventions. Finally, several challenges are identified and some proposals are formulated. We assume that these proposals will contribute to the achievement of the goals established concerning harassment at work, in the new Community strategy on health and safety at work (2002-2006).
