Miquel Pans is an assistant professor at the Faculty of Physical Activity and Sport at the Universitat de València. He is a member of the Research Group on Physical Activity, Education and Society (GIUV2016-310). Since January 2024 he is the international mobility coordinator of the centre. His research has mainly focused on physical activity and people with disabilities. He was awarded the Diversidades prize for his thesis 'Physical activity and health in university students with disabilities'. In recent years, he has been working on a postdoctoral project focused on investigating socio-economic and gender differences in active transport. His academic interests also include physical activity in the natural environment, which is the subject of two of his recent articles. He has also been the beneficiary of an FPU predoctoral contract (FPU16/00342), a Prometheus postdoctoral contract for research groups of excellence (GVPROMETEO2021-026) and has been accredited by the Spanish National Agency for Quality Assurance and Accreditation (ANECA) as a doctoral contract professor. He has published 20 scientific articles in high-impact journals, 2 book chapters and 17 communications in national and international conferences. At the teaching level, he has taught the following subjects in the CAFD degree: educational games and sports initiation, methodology of teaching physical activities, physical education, physical recreation and physical activities in the natural environment. Finally, Miquel has a vision of sport and physical activity as a tool for social transformation. This led him to volunteer for two years in the field of international cooperation, where he developed the Sport and Disability project of the Vicente Ferrer Foundation (Annantapur, India). He is also a member of the Cave Rescue Group of the Speleology Federation of the Valencian Community.
