Resumen
Solid-gas reactions are an important class of reactions which typically involves porous materials. However, there are also cases which surprisingly can involve non-porous materials, sometimes with modification of covalent bonds. This article reviews a family of non-porous metal-organic compounds which are able to chemisorb HX (X = CI, Br) and incorporate them into the frameworks. Although these reactions involve multiple changes in the covalent bonds of the solid, crystallinity is retained. Mechanistic aspects of the reaction are also discussed, which highlight the importance of non-covalent interactions in the chemisorption process. Finally, the application of this type of reaction to tune the magnetic properties is also presented.
