Zusammenfassung
The orogenic movements made millions of years ago that the calcareous and dolomitic materials that make up the mountains acquire spectacular and capricious forms such as: the tops of Les Agulles (555 m), Les Orelles d'Ase (575 m), Les Creus (539 m), La Ratlla (625 m) or the karst morphology of Pla del Barber. The study area is located in Alzira (Valencia, Júcar Basin). The climate is dry Mediterranean- with precipitation values and annual average temperature of 500 mm and 16ºC. The area in the Alzira area constitutes a small drainage basin whose northern slopes correspond to the Sierra del Caballo. The basin has an elongated NW-SE shape, flanked by two mountainous ridges, Sierra Las Agujas and Murta. The basin pours its waters over a flat alluvial area of the Xúquer, through the Barranco de la Casella. The climate of the area is dry and humid, mesothermic, with little or no excess of water in winter, being mild and warm summers. The aim of our work is to characterize the majority materials in this area in the region of La Ribera (Valencia) that allowed limestone mining in the area, mineralogically identifying and characterizing the dominant rocks in the old marble mines used in the industry and masonry and origin of many of the Valencian historical monuments, being an important part of the geological heritage of the Valencian province.
