Abstract

As a solution to passive behaviour in the classroom, the Role-Playing technique has been widely considered and used at university level for teaching and developing skills and learning in students. This paper aims to show a novel approach to learning about sociology of gender using this dynamic in Sociology and Science Policies degree. The roles worked on were political parties, interest groups and associations and the debate were structured around four main themes and sub-themes: 1) gender representations 2) economy and power 3) gender violence and 4) women's bodies. This pedagogical strategy has strengthened the critical thinking of the students, as well as improving their capacity for communication and social skills, among others. Furthermore, it has allowed them to transfer the theoretical knowledge learned in the classroom to various relevant and current social phenomena.
