Infracomunidades helmínticas de dos poblaciones de Bombina variegata (Linnaeus, 1758) en Grecia

The study of helminth infracommunities of 50 Bombina variegata (Linnaeus, 1758) specimens coming from Macedonia and Thrace, in Greece, was carried out. Thirty of these anurans were collected in Pella prefecture and 20 in Xánthi prefecture. The obtained results show a helminth community with low abundance (131 individuals), integrated by Haematoloechus variegatus (Rudolphi, 1819), Opisthioglyphe ranae (Froelich, 1791), Sonsinotrema tacapense (Sonsino, 1894) and Pleurogenoides stromi Travassos, 1930 (Trematoda), Nematotaenia dispar (Goeze, 1782) (Cestoda) and Rhabdias bufonis (Schrank, 1788), Oswaldocruzia bialata (Molin, 1860), Cosmocerca ornata (Dujardin, 1845) and Aplectana macintoshii (Stewart, 1914) (Nematoda). The helminth component community of this amphibian in Xánthi (Tracia) prefecture, with 90 specimens belonging to seven parasite species, has been richer and more abundant than the one obtained in Pella (Macedonia) prefecture, with 41 individuals belonging to only four parasite species, although the number of examined hosts was smaller in this locality. Statistically significant differences have been observed among richness and abundance of two prefectures, and also in the size of the hosts, diversity and eveness of helminth infracommunities.
