Zusammenfassung

This paper presents some refl ections on the professional career of university professors during the period of Constitutional Spain, starting with the University Reform Law. It analyzes the contextual framework in which universities are developed (State and Autonomous Communities), as well as the current professional career model and its access systems, the access/promotion processes, identifying diff erent stages of professional development during the democratic Spain and some notes about the possibilities of developing an access model that is independent of the misuses that have been given both when the central responsibility for access and/or promotion competitions fell on the universities, and the role of ANECA at present. Overall, this is a review work from the author’s personal position. It is not a review of the literature per se
