Resumen
In our analysis of Tacitus' work, we have explored his style, in which, among other aspects, such as ellipsis, the alteration of the order of words in the phrase stands out as a significant feature. This alteration, which contrasts with the usual SOV and «determinant-determined» structures, emerges as a crucial resource in his prose. Our approach attempts to demonstrate that dislocations affect the signified and the signifier equally, and therefore obey expressive or aesthetic motivations. Furthermore, we consider the context of linguistic change of his time and Tacitus's preferences for different models, enriching the understanding of his style and his literary legacy and connecting with the evolution towards Neo-Latin languages.
