Resumen
The Sense of Coherence attribute was described by Antonovsky as the personal ability to build up coherent experiences in life; SOC questionnaire is used in its evaluation. By rating Appraisal of self-care Agency Scale (ASA) is possible to know the potential of a person to perform selfcare operations. The aim of this study is to analyze the correlation between SOC and self-care levels in Nursingassistant Vocational Training students at CIPFP La Costera-Xàtiva, Valencia. Methods used were observational, descriptive and transversal. Social and demographic data were collected; likewise SOC and ASA were assessed. Subsequently, descriptive data analysis was performed using measures of central tendency and frequency distribution and correlations between variables and mean differences were analyzed by nonparametric tests. Analyzing the results, we found that most population has a low or medium-low income threshold; ASA score result is: 96.95 ± 8.56 and SOC score result is: 57.64 ± 8.07 SOC, both presenting optimal levels. Statistically significant relationship between income level and overall scores of both scales was found; therefore, we concluded that students with higher levels of SOC also obtain higher results in potential self-care. Both scales are related to non-modifiable factors (age and sex) as modifiable (employment status, income level).
