Abstract

Objetives: the purpose of this study is to determine the values of angular cephalometric facial soft tissue profile of a group of young adults by photometric analysis of the facial profile as well as the differences between men and women. Material and methods: 75 students (27 men and 48 women) from the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Valencia (Spain) from 18 to 23 years old and who had not received orthodontic treatment we reselected for this analysis following a series of criteria. All pictures were taken in natural head position and analyzed with Nemoceph® computer system. Results: significant differences between men and women in most parameters of the labial, nasal, and chin areas were found. Conclusions: in general, males had greater heights and lengths as well as greater prominences of these 3 areas.
