Abstract

This thesis explores 2nd year Baccalaureate students’ L2 writing development from a holistic communicative perspective during a whole academic year. In particular, it examines the impact the instructional treatment used, students’ initial proficiency level, and motivation have on learners’ L2 writing development. A total of 148 participants belonging to a public and a private educational centre in the city of Castelló de la Plana were involved in this investigation. Using a mixed research methodology both quantitative and qualitative data were obtained to further understand the results obtained.
