Fossil micromammals have proven to be optimal climatic and environmental indicators for paleoclimatic reconstructions. Based on its fossil record, we can apply qualitative and quantitative reconstruction methodologies to describe or parameterize past climatic conditions. In addition, by studying its remains we can also find out the predator responsible for the accumulation, providing more information about the environment at the time the deposit was formed. Currently, there are numerous works based on micromammals. In this contribution, the paleoclimatic studies carried out in the Pliocene deposits of the Barranc del Gormaget and the Pleistocene of El Salt in the area of Alcoi are given as examples of paleoclimatic inferences based on fossil micromammals.
