Abstract

Pico de los Ajos, on the top of Sierra Martés, was a hillfort with a long sequence of occupation that is known for its large corpus of Iberian texts, mostly sheets made of lead. Its location and characteristics denote a clear strategic character, in relation to the territorialization processes of the Iberian oppida and mobility, communications and trade through the Magro river valley. In this paper we briefly present the main results of the archaeological excavations carried out in the site between 2017 and 2022, especially from contexts after the Roman conquest.
