Resumen

Violence against women, gender violence, has existed, unfortunately, throughout history. Literature shows it -sometimes shamelessly- and we can find traces in memoirs and, especially, in procedural literature, where we can hear the voices of battered women. This article, after making a brief review of some testimonies that attest to that situation, focuses on the case of the sisters Maria and Tomasa Ahuir, in Alzira, in 1704.
