Abstract

The main aim of the current work is to analyze the consequences that the 11-S events have had on the touristic fl ows in Spain. A consumer-choice model developed by Enders et al. (1992) is utilized to study the regional effects of terrorism on market shares in tourism sector. The study is corried out from the number of booked hotel rooms. Particularly, domestic and foreign touristic series according to the origin country. The intervention analysis, following four alternative scenarios, has been the statistical technique used. The most remarkable conclusion is the effect of the 11-S on the reduction of touristic fl ows coming from USA and Japan.
