Experiences of socio-educational interventions within the Valencian education system have been frequent and in many cases successful, but until now they have been developed as external collaborations. At a time when the incorporation of the figure of the social educator as an integral part of the education system is being considered, this article presents an analysis of these experiences, with the aim of identifying the most common functions and the keys to their success. The study is based on the report prepared by the Professional Association of Social Educators of the Valencian Community, and it start with the analysis of the information sheets collected and completed through a triangular group carried out with key informants. The descriptive analysis of the information sheets and the content analysis of the triangular group led to the conclusion that the most important functions are those related to coordination and that the keys to success are linked, in parallel, to realistic and empathetic collaboration with the educational teams.
