Abstract

This article describes the contents, development and conclusions of a teaching innovation project, financed by the university of valencia, and consisting of the application of multimedia content for the development of theoretical and practical classes related to the physical examination of the abdomen as well as as with diagnostic procedures for abdominal pathologies, especially acute but also chronic processes. Specifically, it focuses on providing a multimedia approach and support for the practical and theoretical classes of the subjects of Medical Physiology 1, Medical Physiology 2 and Medical Physiology 3 corresponding to the degree in Medicine of the university of valencia and, in a broad sense, for the study and diagnosis of abdominal pathologies, especially those encompassed in the Acute Abdomen. it is especially aimed at medical students, doctors from different fields and specialties, both medical and surgical, both Mir residents and specialist doctors. the Acute Abdomen constitutes a syndrome or clinical entity that encompasses different processes, highlighting acute peritonitis whose differential diagnosis is key in medical practice, with abdominal physical examination being a fundamental tool in it. it is a set of exploratory maneuvers that include abdominal inspection, auscultation of intestinal and vascular dynamics, thoracoabdominal percussion, and superficial and deep palpation. Special emphasis is placed on vascular murmurs, the presence of intestinal obstructive masses or phenomena, hepatic, biliary, renal or splenic examination and, the most important aspect, making an accurate differential diagnosis of acute peritonitis. the project (UV-SFPIE_RMD17-586981) has generated multimedia materials such as a video in Spanish and recently another video in English and another in valencian. the video in Spanish is as follows https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KtdBno_8nnM&feature=youtu.be with 14650 views from 2019 to 2022.
