Abstract
In this work we analyse the Spanish translation of the book The Wisdom of the Body (1932), by Walter B. Cannon, professor of Physiology at the Harvard Medical School, which was carried out in the context of the exile and diaspora of the Catalan Biological School following the Spanish Civil War. This case study is undertaken from a perspective which attributes historical value to scientific translations; this specific instance deals with the translation of a book of high-level popularisation which focuses on the body�s internal regulatory mechanisms. It stresses that we are dealing here with an example of cultural and scientific resistance that goes well beyond a purely terminological adaptation of this work.
