Zusammenfassung

2009 will mark 30 years since the publication of «The Ecology of Human Development» by Urie Bronfenbrenner (1917-2005). This work meant the synthesis of its author’s thought, who had already outlined in earlier texts, and the reference point of an exciting theory about human behavior. Bronfenbrenner’s basic idea is that individual development is conditioned by the characteristics of the environments in which such development occurs: the human being «does» in dynamic interaction with their context and in the context of relations between them. Despite the theoretical and methodological relevance of this contribution, it is still unfamiliar to a majority of psychologists located in cognitive models of individualistic and isolationist court. This paper reviews, first, the main background of ecological theory of development, to subsequently present their outstanding contributions to the understanding of human beings and their behavior.
