Abstract

The Occupancy Surveys in Tourist Accommodation designed and executed by the INE are aimed at hotel establishments,campsites, tourist apartments and rural tourism accommodation. The goal is to estimate aggregate values for a series ofvariables, among which the number of places offered, travellers, overnight stays and average stay stands out. Most of theestimators proposed by the INE incorporate census information and can be reformulated alternatively by modifying theauxiliary variable. However, the estimation of its accuracy is an open problem that allows several approaches. In this paper,four possible solutions are proposed and the results obtained are analysed.
