Comunicar y compararla historia de la ciencia ante el localismo, la fragmentación y la hegemonía cultural

Resumen

Nas últimas décadas, temos assistido a uma importante revisão crítica das narrativas tradicionais da historia da ciência, baseadas na emergência da ciência moderna no ocidente e seu progresso até o estabelecimento da civilização industrial. Partindo desta situação, nos propomos analisar alguns dos debates historiográficos recentes desde nossa perspectiva como historiadores da "periferia" europeia. Três questões centram nossa atenção: os proclamas -fundamentalmente anglo-saxões- sobre a necessidade de uma nova perspectiva capaz de conectar com audiências amplas e evitar as tendências centrífugas da especialização; a perda de internacionalismo patente na produção acadêmica e em seus enfoques, e os debates atuais sobre o auge e queda do Estado-nação e sua validade como unidade de análise. Como resultado desta discussão, reivindicamos como programa historiográfico o uso da história comparada em combinação com a análise dos processos de comunicação a vários níveis: do local ao transnacional.
