Abstract

Society is by definition dynamic and ever-changing; although it is a practically imperceptible process, scenarios are reinvented every day. In view of this situation, innovation and specialization are basic values in the development of new ideas allowing to create new market niches in the tourism industry. This industry needs to reinvent itself constantly to adapt to new sociocultural realities and trends. In order to do so, it is essential to know and understand the new scenarios deeply. Our proposal involves using applied socioanthropology in these knowledge processes, i.e., combining sociological and anthropological research techniques to know, diagnose and understand the tourism reality and its needs. The objective of this paper is to present the benefits and potentialities of the socioanthropological approach and its techniques in research on the tourism industry.
