Abstract
This paper reviews the main traits of adolescence in the digital society. Next, it is examined the contribution of parents to the adolescent psychosocial develop-ment. Importantly, current emerging studies question whether the severity of parents contributes to the adaptation of adolescents. Specifically, in this paper is examined the new paradigm in optimal parental socialization, with a new third stage (i.e., indulgent style) extending the traditional two-stage paradigm (i.e., authoritarian and authoritative styles). It also examined the role of parents in the face of one of the most important threats to public health in the digital society: Adolescent alcohol use.
