This paper tries to go in depth around the concept of nation managed by the Spanish socialism during the Second Republic. In this way, assuming the compatibility between national and working-class identity, this paper insists on the shared assumption of the Spanish national identity among the Spanish socialism. Above and beyond the socialist diversity pointed out by the PSOE increasing radicalism, and in spite of the existence of different ways in understanding the Spanish nation, from the socialists ranks Spain was not denied as a nation nor refused as a justifying element of their political purpose.
