Abstract
Strengthening rural-urban relations is decisive for the territorial cohesion of European regions. It requires an integrated approach at local and regional level in order to promote new localities, networkgovernance and smart development. This paper focuses on the work carried out by the Living Lab Valencia, within the H2020 ROBUST project, aiming at identifying and generating rural-urban synergiesin the functional area of Valencia. In particular, the “Living Lab” model is presented as a method to co-design projects, as well as the main projects developed by the lab, such as Territorial EmploymentPacts, Sustainable Food, Rural Transport, and Internet Access in Rural Areas. Network generation and cooperation between rural-urban actors is one of the main results of this experience, as well as oneof the issues requiring greater emphasis in those projects addressing rural-urban linkages.
