Abstract

Like the previous volumes of Baroque Triumphs, the work comprises a catalogue of impressive chronologically ordered images and ten chapters dealing with different aspects of the cultural and festive world, not only of Charles V but also the cultural legacy that he represents. The book La Fiesta Renacentista. El Imperio de Carlos V (1500-1558) “Renaissance Festivities. Charles V’s Empire (1500-1558)”, on the occasion of the centenary of his coronation at Aachen (1520), places us in the Europe of the early 16th century when the cultural, political, festive and territorial heritage of several royal houses converted in the figure of Charles V, an emperor considered to be the new Caesar of his times.
