Abstract

Sexuality is a transversal axis that modulates the well-being of the young population at a physical level, but also at a psychosocial level. However, the stigma attached to problems as diverse as LGTBI discrimination and sexual dysfunctions makes it even more difficult to experience them. For this reason, from the Universitat Jaume I of Castelló and the Universitat de València, Salusex tries to improve the quality of sexual life of the university community and contribute to the role that Higher Education institutions have as agents of health. In this context and given the special repercussion that mental health problems have on the young population, the experimental work of Salusex since 2003, in the field of mental health, must be highlighted. Firstly, it describes a line of work that tries to improve self-care competences in the psychological area of sexuality, and secondly, another line of work aimed at detecting and supporting those people who require an intervention in the field of clinical psychology. Beyond the challenges that remain to be met, the work of Salusex showed the extent to which universities can act as agents for the promotion of affective-sexual health.
