Abstract

We present an exploration of the final assessment of a didactic sequence of our own design, around the soil and its health, directed towards the development of students’ scientific competence, and contextualized at the organic learning garden that was implemented at the initial teacher training in 6 Spanish universities. A sub-sample of 50 exercises has been qualitatively analyzed by defining an inductive system of content categories and subcategories. Results evidence strengths -identification of the most important problems- and weaknesses of students -search for information, holistic understanding- regarding their ability to “interpret scientific evidence and draw up and communicate conclusions”, and guide the design of a specific rubric for assessment.
