Abstract

This paper examines the self-directed pedagogy as a way to promote the permanent learning. Along the text we show its implications in the educational field, starting with the analysis of the self-directivity‟s role in the learning process within the contemporary context. Next, we propose self-directivity as a training philosophy, and we describe several of the benefits that it brings. Finally, self-directivity is presented in alignment with the critical perspectives of the learning process, pointing out itspower to promote human self-education in a real holistic and individual way.
