Abstract

The second update of the inventory of geosite in Region of Murcia has been requested to the research group of Geology from University of Murcia by the General Direction of Natural Environment (Department of Employment, Universities, Business and Environment) in 2018. In this occasion, 14 places have been described out of the 150 places that were already inventoried. As a result of this work, eight places have been considered to have international interest: ultrapotassic volcanic rocks outcrops in La Aljorra, Derramadores and Puebla de Mula. Ultrapotassic dike and the evaporitic and detrital series in El Tale; evaporitic rocks and diatomites in Río Chícamo; travertines in Carraclaca; geodiversity in Puebla de Mula and Barranco del Gredero where K/ Pg and P/E limits are found. Two places have national interest: Brunita mine and amber deposit in Hondares. Finally, four places are considered to have regional interest: basalts in Cabezo Negro de los Pérez and in Rambla de Peñas Blancas; Estrecho de la Agualeja and Campules diapir. These 14 places are added to the 20 ones that were described in detail in 2009, so nowadays complete information of 34 places of geological interest is available for their conservation, management and sustainable use by the competent administration in natural environment.
