Abstract

Introduction In the current employment context, the idiosyncratic development contract is defined as an agreement between employee and employer that is beneficial for both and that has the aim of developing the worker's potential. The existing literature suggests the importance of this type of idiosyncratic contract in different labor and organizational processes. However, research into their role is scarce and even less so in more collectivist cultures. The aim of this research is to analyze the mediating role of three components of the idiosyncratic development contract in the relationship between the worker's happiness orientation and creative performance. Method The sample used is 3,181 employees from three countries (Brazil, Mexico and Spain). The employees responded by means of self-report measures in each country. The answers were analyzed by means of Process V3. Three dimensions of idiosyncratic development contract were analyzed: growth, recognition, and opportunities for improvement. In addition, orientation to eudaimonic happiness and creative performance was measured. o Results The results showed that the three dimensions of idiosyncratic development contract mediate the relationship between orientation to eudaimonic happiness and creative performance. Discussion / Conclusions These results provide evidence that employees with a high eudaimonic orientation have greater creative performance and that the idiosyncratic development contract has a mediating role in this relationship. . Therefore, it expands and develops research on the antecedents and consequences of the idiosyncratic development contract
