Abstract

Research is a systematic process which can be conducted through four phases: conceptual, empirical, interpretative and communicative. A research protocol is the document that allows going from the conception of a research problem to the research in itself. It starts in the conceptual stage and its finalization coincides with the beginning of the empirical stage. Its purpose is to communicate in detail, reliability and clarity every aspect related to the suggested study in order to evaluate it subsequently by the proper research body. This paper describes the structure, sections and elaboration of a research protocol and it is pretended to be used as a guide for the Pediatrics professionals interested in planning and conducting a scientific research.
