Resumo

Artificial metals are composites obtained from the mixture of thermoset resins with metallic fillers. They are used in pursuit of 3D prototypes, as well as in the making of sculptures and decorative objects, in areas such as industrial creation, fine arts, and conservation and restoration of cultural heritage. These are materials that are still being under study and characterization for such applications. Previously, the different types of matrices and their characteristics have been described, as well as the metallic fillers, particle size and dosage, adjusted to the different procedures of sculptural work. This article proposes a review of different methodologies involved in the creation and reproduction using such composites, an aspect that until now had been little mentioned. Although the methodologies of casting, stratification and coating are known in the sculptural field, by using these materials a specific methodology is required for obtaining composite artifacts with a metallic appearance. In short, these are fast procedures with optimal results, which allow you to obtain pieces of small or large sizes, without limitations and with a wide range of possibilities in terms of aspects of prototyping and reproduction
