Resumen

A pesar de que existe una vasta literatura sobre inseguridad laboral, todavía se pueden encontrar importantes carencias en este campo de investigación. Se ha prestado poca atención a los efectos colate-rales de la inseguridad laboral sobre las familias de los empleados, y todavía no se conoce bien el papel del género en relación con la inseguridad laboral. Por tanto, el objetivo de este estudio era doble: primero, analizar los efectos potencialmente perjudiciales de la inseguridad laboral en las familias de los empleados (e.g., satisfacción familiar, cohesión familiar y flexibilidad familiar); y segundo, determinar si existen diferencias entre hombres y mujeres en su percepción de la inseguridad laboral y de sus efectos colaterales en el entorno familiar. De hecho, este estudio examina hipótesis teóricas alternativas sobre el papel del género en relación con la inseguridad laboral. Mediante análisis jerárquicos de regresión múltiple, se confirmaron las siguientes hipótesis: (1) la inseguridad laboral está relacionada con niveles más bajos de satisfacción familiar, cohesión familiar y flexibilidad familiar; (2) el género moderó la relación entre la inseguridad laboral y las consecuencias familiares, pero curiosamente los efectos de esta moderación fueron en una dirección inesperada. Al experimentar inseguridad laboral, las mujeres aumentaron su cohesión familiar y flexibilidad familiar. Sin embargo, no se encontraron diferencias en relación con la percepción de inseguridad laboral entre hombres y mujeres.
