Resumen

The village of Chóvar in Castellón province, E Spain includes the biggest number of old interiormetallic mining Works of the whole region (autonomous Community) of Valencia. Such importantmetal minerals as mercury, cobalt, copper, and barium have been exploited since historical timesuntil the second half of the XXth century. Both the mines themselves and associate facilities constructions, and the remaining evidences of mining activities constitute a very important geologicaland mining heritage of this Autonomous Community, which would require an urgent program ofheritage protection and geoconservation in order to guarantee their preservation and cultural management and use.
