Abstract
The inverse of the distance method is one of the most known methods of multidimensional interpolation in engineering, especially with spatial data (geostatistics). It involvcs approximating the value of the function at a point by a linear combination of values obtained from the data, where the coefficients depend on the inverse of the distance from the given point to thc othcr points. ln the paper we present a virtual laboratory that permits us to plot several graphs showing the curve or function corresponding to the interpolated surface and the points to bc intcrpolatcd. Its usc in thc teaching of numcrical methods subjects or others using geostatistical techniques can be useful to display the properties of the method and its application to real engineering problems.
