Changes in the use of the Spanish litoral land (2008-2018)An announced saturation

During the first part of the 21st century, the Spanish territory has experienced a considerable increase in the artificial surface in its various aspects: urbanization, commerce, services, communication routes, etc., which means loss of natural soil, landscape diversity and resources. The coastal spaces have been strongly affected by this process. In this paper we want to show the evolution of the changes in the land uses in the Spanish coast, both in the peninsula and in the islands, particularly in the first line (first 0 to10 kilometers). The urban structure (artificial land) before and after the economic crisis of 2008 helps to understand the situation of territorial saturation experienced by the coastal area in Spain, mainly due to tourism activity and the evolution of destinations coastlines both in terms of urbanization growth and the creation of leisure spaces complementary to traditional sun and beach tourism. The data from SIOSE have been used to build the cartography and achieve the analysis.
