Résumé

Two basaltic units, with interbedded Ladinian-Carnian marine limestones, were emplaced into Triassic materials of the Beni Snassen Massif (NE Morocco). Mineral (Ol+Cpx+Pl+Mt) and geochemical compositions o f these basalts evidence its tholeiitic affinity and cogenetism, as well as differentiation by fractional crystallization. These basalts were emplaced in a shallow submarine environment, and the extrusion seems to be related to two fracture families, trending N70-N90 and N l 35-N160 respectively. These fractures display a restricted regional development, suggesting an aborted rifting event prior to Liassic sedimentation.
