Abstract

A patient with a orofacial pain caracteristic of an idiopatic trigeminal neuralgia is presented, the pain was located in the side of mandible where previously sorne extractions were made. The edentulous areas were painful with pressure in the dentuol uos areas, pain was relieved by third-division infiltration or block. Roetgenograms and computed tomography shown radiolucency and destorded bone trabeculation at the site of previous tooth extraction of 47. Histopathologic findings consist of abnonnal vegetable like structures. Through the resultant pain remision, it appears that a «peipheral » (dento-alveolar) etiologic factor may be present in the generation and perpetuation of tic douloureux.
