Resum
The oligarchy is one of the six forms of State and Government which Aristotle studied in his Politics. The social, political and historical reality showed that it was the most frequent political organization form. Aristotle distinguished several types of oligarchies, he studied the way how to start to establish and the causes of their degeneration and final extinction. The ideas of Aristotle had a wide influence among the commentators of the 13th to 17th centuries. They have opted to consider the oligarchic regime as a form of State dominated by few or rich.
