Résumé

Introduction: oncological disease produces a great emotional impact on our population, not only to patients who suffer it, but the whole environment. Knowing the degree of involvement of the disease for both patients and family members is essential for the proper care by medical personnel and this knowledge can improve coping with the disease. Therefore, this study aims to determine the degree of involvement of cancer diagnosis in patients and relatives and to know the aspects that favor it. Methodology: descriptive, observational, cross-sectional study conducted at the Castellon Provincial Hospital Consortium in 50 cancer patients and 50 relatives of cancer patients, during March and April 2012. Primary variable. Scale of satisfaction with Diener's life. Control variables, socio-demographic variables, clinical variables, leisure variables and free time. Statistical analysis: descriptive and comparative analysis of categorical and continuous variables was performed; according to the nature of them, it made use of the chi-square test and one-way ANOVA. This study meets the bioethical principles and committee approval research center in which data have been obtained. Results: the profile of the patient who comes to oncological day hospital is mostly a middle-aged woman, this being more predominant profile in the group of relatives. Where relatives have lower life satisfaction compared with patients. Since there is no significant relationship with variables as religious beliefs, leisure time or variables related to the type of tumor. Obtaining greater statistical significance in life satisfaction related to marital status. Conclusions: Family members studied had a worse coping with the disease than patients, being related with the same marital status, not getting any relation with other variables.
