Abstract

This article provides an analysis of the relationship between one parent families and employment’s conditions. The goal is to determine if the type of family unit has a relation to an incremental difficulty for women to obtain employment’s income. The study uses microdata from the 2011 Censo de Poblacion y Viviendas from INE (National Institute of Statistics), as related to País Valencia. The analysis has been done in two phases: a bivariate analysis followed by a multivariate logistic regression. The results indicate that in the distribution of precarious participation in the labour market, the most relevant aspect, in the field of gender relationships and forms of cohabitation, are gender differences and the family form can be superimposed on them. Women have a greater probability than men to have a precarious participation in the labour market, but in one parent families of women with children under 6 years old this is exacerbated by precarious participation more uncertain
