Estilos de pensamiento racional-experencial y la cooperación intergrupal racionalel rol modulador del conflicto intergrupal

Resumen

Las relaciones colaborativas intergrupales son difíciles debido a la capacidad humana de diferenciar entre los miembros del endogrupo y los miembros del exogrupo. Este obstáculo existe incluso cuando los grupos podrían beneficiarse de la cooperación con otros grupos (cooperación racional). Desde la aproximación interaccionista, los autores proponen que ciertos factores personales (diferencias individuales) y situacionales (conflictos) contribuyen a la cooperación intergrupal racional. Los autores han realizado un estudio correlacional preliminar (Estudio 1) y una investigación experimental (Estudio 2). En el Estudio 1, se analizaron, con 105 participantes, las propiedades psicométricas de la versión española del Inventario Racional-Experiencial (escala REI) con el que se miden las diferencias individuales en el procesamiento de información. En el Estudio 2, los autores realizaron una investigación experimental con 141 participantes en la que comprobaron el papel de las diferencias individuales y del conflicto en la cooperación intergrupal racional. Los resultados del Estudio 1 mostraron que la escala tiene propiedades psicométricas adecuadas, mientras que los resultados del Estudio 2 confirmaron que la existencia de conflictos intergrupales manipulados y percibidos reduce la magnitud de las relaciones entre habilidad racional y cooperación racional. Además, el conflicto intergrupal percibido aumenta la magnitud de las relaciones de la habilidad y la preferencia experiencial con la cooperación racional. Tanto las diferencias individuales como el conflicto previo desempeñan un papel significativo en la predicción de la cooperación intergrupal. Desde un enfoque interaccionista, la comprensión de las relaciones intergrupales debería tener en cuenta tanto los factores personales como los situacionales.
